Final Fantasy IV – DS

Square Enix and Nintendo commissioned Saizen Media the creation of the official website for the latest installment of the Final Fantasy saga for Nintendo DS: Final Fantasy IV. Our team created a set of original digital matte paintings serving as backdrops for the website. Each environment was created on separate layers to allow sideways parallax scrolling. The multiple matte paintings were then interconnected resulting in a single immersive environment. The addition of particle system based animations and environmental animations such as myst, fog, and waterfalls, along with sound effects and music, contributed to bringing the environments to life. We then painted over the provided CG characters in order to seamlessly integrate them into the environments.
As a result, Final Fantasy IV – DS has been acclaimed by fans across the globe as one of the best experience websites for the Final Fantasy franchise. The website was also awarded as Adobe SOTD.
